Darin Knapp
Dr. Knapp received his dual undergraduate degrees in Psychology (BA) and Biology (BS), with graduate degrees in Biopsychology and Behavioral Neuroscience (MS, PhD) from Rutgers University. He completed his postdoctoral work at the Brain and Development Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then joined the Dept of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine there while conducting biomedical research in the Center for Alcohol Studies. He taught in the Psychology and Neuroscience Department in the School of Arts and Sciences and supported faculty university-wide as the Associate Director for Faculty Development in Research in the Center for Faculty Excellence for four years prior to retiring in 2022. Darin is a certified forest therapy guide via The Forest Therapy School and now a full-time farmer and creator of nature-based experiences with his fellow Forest Therapy guide and wife, Jane Saiers, at RambleRill Farm in Hillsborough, NC and nearby locations. Reprising a youth of nature-based experiences in his retirement years has been a revelation and reminder of the power of nature and the forest to heal, strengthen, and enliven one’s heart and soul, and elevate the sacred.
